Beautiful Chaos

I’m sitting here typing this at 4:05 pm still in my purple snoopy pajamas because…..well, just because! Today was the official first day of school for my two bicycle motors. We woke up real late, no time for breakfast. I think I only managed to get my top teeth brushed in our mad dash to beat the tardy bell…… Oh wait, I homeschool! Yes, we did wake up real late, we didn’t eat breakfast because it was entirely too close to lunch at this point and in all honesty, I only got my top teeth brushed because I had to stop what I was doing and threaten the kids within an inch of their sweet little lives if they did not stop fighting! So, I never made it back in the bathroom to finish brushing my teeth nor covering my body with something more appropriate than snoopy pants.

Yes, we are just now starting our school year because I forgot to order our curriculum in time to start with the rest of society.  We finally made it into the school room around oneish and it was in complete shambles due to a certain said sleepover of several little girls. While the kids cleaned up, I attempted to organize new curriculum and wash some clothes and cook some breakunch (I made that word up, feel free to use it) which consisted of a box of mac n cheese because I am on top of things around here and our pantry is stocked to the brim with delicious, nutritious, wholesome food (insert vague sarcasm).

Beautiful Chaos | With Grit & Grace| http://sashacarrollonline.comI walk into the bathroom for another attempt at dressing myself only to find enough toilet paper shoved in the toilet to wipe the rear-ends of all of Gideon’s army. I take a deep breath and deal with it. I then venture into Kennedy’s bathroom to find toothpaste smeared from here to eternity, soap dripping off of the sink and soaking wet towels in a precious pile on the rug. Just for kicks, I decided to go upstairs and check out the 13 year old’s bathroom….Sweet merciful saints!!! How disgusting can boys be? Really? I’m not even going to go into detail about the insane catastrophe that my eyes beheld behind door number three of the day!

My living room is divinely decorated with baby dolls, barbie shoes, crayons, remote controls, and computer parts from the latest invention that was created.  You cannot pull out a chair to sit at my dining room table because they are roped off and tied together with remnant parts of a jump rope that make up a girls only fort. The recliner is currently covered in seasoning salt because apparently it is going to be sliced in pieces and grilled for supper later because the kids surely know that I have not changed my mind about taking food in the living room. I then see something red and shiny peeking at me from under the coffee table. Well, I’ll be….if it sure ain’t a can of Coke turned over and making a beautiful masterpiece of stickiness on my hard wood floor.

I’ve worked like an eight armed octopus cleaning up all this ridiculousness while huffing and puffing things like……. I’m throwing everything in this house in the trash can, you just wait until your Daddy gets home, I’m gonna count to three and you better have that bathroom cleaned, I’m not telling you again……..and then, out of nowhere tears started flowing and I realized…Thank you Lord for my house that my stopped up toilet is attached to, and the walls that hold up the counter of smeared toothpaste, and the furniture that is so fashionably decorated, and the running water that allows the towels to be soaked, and my truck that is in the garage that takes me to the grocery store, and the money in my bank account that buys all of this stuff and for these two perfectly made children that create this beautiful chaos I call my life. Thank You!

We all have something to be thankful for. You just have to be willing to look through the forest to really see the trees.

Well, this just in as I am getting ready to hit publish……Mama, Mama, you are not going to believe this, but there is big hole in my bathtub, I can see straight through it! Yes, friends….I am THANKFUL!!
